We appreciate your interest in the Pioneer Quilters Guild!
Pioneer Quilters’ Guild was established in 1989 to provide information on the history of quilt making and to contribute to the growth and knowledge of quilting techniques and patterns. The Guild is comprised of 175 dedicated members who volunteer hundreds of hours a year making quilts, baby quilts, and pillow cases for local organizations, Christmas Stockings for at risk youth, and placemats for Meals on Wheels. Thanks to the dedication of our members, last year the Guild was able to donate 231 quilts, 133 preemie quilts, 501 pillow cases, 546 Christmas stockings and 386 placemats.
We also enjoy a number of other activities that help us learn and enjoy each others’ company, both at meetings and away.
Guild Meetings are generally held the first Monday of the month at the Shepherd of the Sierra Presbyterian Church on Barton Road in Loomis. We have Hospitality (snacks) at 6:30 p.m. with the general meeting starting at 7 p.m. Due the July 4 Independence Day holiday there is no meeting in July and in August there two meetings – the regular first Monday and another on the last Monday (in lieu of the Labor Day Holiday in September).
Our membership is limited to 175 with a waiting list for prospective members as needed. We are currently not at our maximum of 175. Members are expected to support the activities of the Guild by voluntary service to the Guild, such as participation in fund-raising activities, serving on committees, assisting in community service projects, and attending a minimum of 5 meetings per year. If Bylaws Revise2 2018you are interested in becoming a member of our family, please contact our membership chair, Shirley Beckmeyer or click here for the Membership Form.
*Every three years the Executive Board reviews the current Bylaws and makes proposed changes for the General Membership to review. After 30 days, the general membership will discuss and vote on said proposed changes. Please click on the link below to review the Executive Boards proposals which are inked in RED:
All of our activities are carried out by volunteers. We have job descriptions for most of our positions.
We publish a newsletter 11 month in the year and accept paid advertising. Here is more information about our Newsletter and requirements for input and advertising.
During a portion of our monthly general meetings, members have an opportunity to share their quilts in a Show and Tell moment. Please browse through the gallery, which archives Show and Tell photos two years back. You can contact our Show and Tell chair with any questions.
The gallery also has photos of many of our previous Opportunity Quilts and quilt from our quilt shows.
We are always looking for stories and pictures from the past from our guild members to add to our history. If you have something you would like to share, please contact our Historian.
